Welcome to the General Assembly! This committee is one of the six core committees in the United Nations and serves as “the main deliberative, policymaking, and representative organ of the UN”. This committee is in charge of making crucial decisions such as including non-permanent members of the Security Council and authorizing the UN budget. This committee also allows for each of the 193 members of the United Nations to have an equal vote. We are hoping for efficient, effective, and strong resolutions to be made in the United Nations General Assembly!

Topic 1:  The Japan and North Korea Tensions

Welcome to the Security Council! Known worldwide for being one of the most essential and prestigious councils, the security council’s main role is to maintain international peace and security all over the world. The major issues brought up by the Security Council can range from natural disasters to global wars. With the help of the five permanent members: China, France, Russia, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Additional alternating non-permanent members & the 5 member states of the Security Council unite to tackle these issues in the most effective, diplomatic, and efficient way possible. We hope to replicate the UN Security Council as closely as possible to create the best possible conference experience!

Topic 1: Artificial Intelligence and Autonomous Weaponry Surveillance Amidst the Increase in Cyber Crime & Cyber Terrorism

The Human Rights Council is a 47-state inter-governmental body that directly reacts to human rights violations from across the globe. Their honourable goal advocates for the core concepts such as but not limited to freedom of expression, speech, and religion, along with restoring fundamental human rights to minorities. We hope that you take their mission wholeheartedly and fight to protect what every individual on this planet deserves.

Topic 1:  Measures to Eradicate Forced Labour and End Modern Slavery

Introducing the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime! As a first for KIMUN, this committee’s mission is to protect our world from illegal drugs, crime, corruption and terrorism. It is a leader in these particular forms of prevention across the globe, as participating nations continue to advocate for justice, good health, peace and security, as well as a sustainable well-being. We hope that all delegates participating take a comprehensive understanding of the significance of the operations this committee carries out.

Topic 1:  The Ongoing Controversy of Legalizing Cannabis and Marijuana

The Economic and Social Council is one of the most crucial committees and one of the central bodies of the UN. It emphasizes the foremost importance of human rights, social development, and even environmental development. The General Assembly elects the 54 participating nations of ECOSOC for three-year terms. For those of you who have the opportunity of being a part of this KIMUN committee, we look forward to all of the solutions you propose!

Topic 1:  Measures to Perform Effective Economic Reconstruction of Countries Affected by Natural Disasters

Hello and welcome to the Historical Committee! Being one of the most challenging committees in Model United Nations, the Historical Committee goes to a certain point in time and debates under these global conditions. The best thing about HC is getting to not only analyze and learn from our past but being able to go into that “What if?” factor. Depending on the period we debate, certain countries may be brought back or removed; for example, in the 1960s, the Soviet Union would still exist, and Russia wouldn’t. The Historical Committee is grown for diplomatic chaos and all-around interesting resolutions and changes. We are hoping for exciting and fruitful debates!
